The love poets of Anandpur The Anandpur Art Project is proud to present a musical rendition of one of the Anandpur Darbaar’s finest love poets. In the sangat of the Gurus there were many ascetic, dispassionate and humble beings who enjoyed living a life in solitude, worship and meditation. These humble beings were known as the Vairagi Sadhus. Kavi Nanua Vairagi was one such being who was blessed to serve Guru Gobind Singh ji for many years in the poetic Anandpur entourage. Nanua was one of the very few Punjabi poets of his time and his poetry has been transmitted throughout the centuries by the Sewa Panthi sadhus. Nanua’s poetry is struck to raagas and is full of intense love and longing for the eternal Satguru Gobind Singh: ਮੇਰਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਹਿ, ਪਾਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਗੁਬਾਰੀ ਵੋ I cannot see where I end, and You begin. I have found myself immersed in a storm of love. ਘਰ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਿਆ, ਨਨੂਆ ਵਾਰੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਵੋ I met the Master of my Heart within my own heart, Nanua is sacrifice over and over again. ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖੀਆਂ, ਸੁਰਮਾ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਘੁੰਮਾਂ ਵੋ My eyes desire to behold you. Come settle in my eyes, like kohl around my eyelashes. ਜਿਤ ਵਲਿ ਲਗਣ ਚਰਨ ਤੁਸਾਡੇ, ਮੈਂ ਜਾਈ ਉਤ ਉਤ ਚੁੰਮਾਂ ਵੋ In whichever direction You place your feet, there I will travel, I will forever kiss the ground as I go. In this mesmerising Raag Asavari rendition, Manbir Singh from the Australian Gurbani Sangeet Vidiyala re-ignites the spirit and soul of the now long lost Anandpur Darbaar.
