Exploring the abandoned Famous Barr Store & Railway Exchange Building in St. Louis

The Railway Exchange Building in St. Louis, Missouri was constructed in 1913. The lower levels housed a Famous Barr Department Store, while the upper floors contained the corporate headquarters for the May Department Store chain. The store and company operated for many decades until Macy's purchased the chain in 2006 and rebranded the store. Less than 10 years later, in 2013, the Famous Barr store closed. Since then, the abandoned building and offices have slowly been looted and destroyed by scavengers and thieves, though some areas remain surprisingly intact. #abandonedplaces #famousbarr #stl
