I agree that harm reduction methods such as Suboxone, Subutex & Methadone are helpful and often life saving tools. My issues with prescribing these substances has to do with a future of getting off these drugs someday. Some people may have had a 6 month addiction to percocet and now will end up with a life long habit to suboxone? I understand that severe addiction cases should potentially jump onto these substances and stay on them for extended time periods, but some people are getting hooked to these tools and they have never done opioids in their lives.
