How have the conversations about pronouns, trans identity, and the LGBTQ2S+ community changed over time? Have they changed at all? In this Source Story episode, Dr. Aaron Devor, Chair in Transgender Studies at the University of Victoria, talks with Dr. Samantha Cutrara about a single issue of "Metamorphosis," a 1982 newsletter for trans men published in Canada. Through this source, they explore the lives and activism of Leslie Feinberg, Rupert Raj, and Reed Erickson, and how these figures shaped trans and queer history across North America. This episode encourages educators to engage with trans histories in Canadian classrooms by connecting archival materials to ongoing conversations about gender, identity, and rights. Each Source Story episode brings historical sources into the classroom in meaningful and challenging ways. Each episode asks: What is the source? What is the story? How can it help us rethink Canadian history? Visit the source: Metamorphosis Newsletter Volume 1, No. 5: https://www.uvic.ca/transgenderarchiv...
