(11 Dec 2025) ASSOCIATED PRESS Los Angeles - 8 December 2025 1. Various shots of Joe Walsh memorabilia up for auction 2. SOUNDBITE (English) Joe Walsh, recording artist - on his auction: "Well, a little insecure about doing this. You know, we all have our stuff and some of it's precious. And to other people, 'Oh it's just his junk.' You know, so my stuff to you is probably my junk and you know, your your stuff is probably 'Oh that's your junk.' I got my stuff. Anyway, I've lived in a bunch of places. They all had a set of guitars there and I'm a kind of a hoarder. I think it's genetic. My grandmother was a hoarder, my mother was a hoarder. Yeah, we all are. We keep stuff that is precious to us... And I have amassed all these things. Each one has a story and each one is very dear to me. But in reality, I'm knee deep in my stuff. And I just go over and look at it and reminisce. I never really hook it up and use it anymore. And I thought I might try and have somebody else have a chance to have one of these pieces. Because they're all good. I'm not selling my junk, man, it's my stuff." 3. Slow pull out Joe Walsh plays guitar 4. SOUNDBITE (English) Joe Walsh, recording artist: (Reporter: "What makes a guitar speak to you?") "Having a significant moment with it on stage so that I know what this does. This is cool. When I need this, I have one. I don't know what else to say other than that. These are guitars that I've always wanted when I was growing up, so I got one. Some of them I work on. I'm a luthier, black belt, white belt ... White belt luthier. But I work on all my guitars. And I love to line them up and when I get it, I take it apart and re-put it back together. And then it goes in my stuff." 5. Various, Joe Walsh plays guitar 6. SOUNDBITE (English) Joe Walsh, recording artist - on making music then and now: "Well the big difference is that now all the music is done with a computer and it's digitally done. All the analog stuff was done with everybody sitting in the room playing at the same time on two-inch tape, and you caught those moments. But now a lot of stuff what you hear, there's no there's no instruments on it. Nobody played on it. It's just computers and keyboards. The instrument of choice has changed from guitar to digital equipment. And that's a hazard of the 21st century and the digital age. We're losing that contact of getting the magic of people performing together." 7. Wide The Troubadour stage with various items of Joe Walsh memorabilia STORYLINE: Joe Walsh is parting with hundreds of pieces of his personal history — guitars, amps, gear and memorabilia collected across decades — in a two-day auction the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer admits comes with mixed emotions. “I’m a kind of a hoarder. I think it’s genetic,” Walsh said. “My grandmother was a hoarder, my mother was a hoarder. Yeah, we all are. We keep stuff that is precious to us ... And I have amassed all these things. Each one has a story and each one is very dear to me.” Speaking inside the Troubadour — the storied West Hollywood club where the auction will take place — Walsh said he ultimately decided it was time to let the items go after realizing he was “knee deep” in gear he no longer used. He acknowledged he’s “a little insecure about doing this.” Walsh — whose work with the Eagles helped shape some of rock’s most recognizable guitar tones — said the day-to-day realities of making music look very different now than they did when he started. =========================================================== Find out more about AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/HowWeWork Twitter: / ap_archive Facebook: / aparchives Instagram: / apnews You can license this story through AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/metadata/you...
