Grand Kids Log Hive is Ready for the Bees

This video is about making a log hive from a tree that had to be cut down. I hollowed out the inside of the log, but since I'm not the least bit artistic I asked Brian Vorwaller to sculpt my grand kids faces on the log. He performed the difficult task admirably and then he and his wife Zada helped with the process of setting the 500# hive on it's base. I will not be taking honey from this hive because we feel it's important to provide habitat in a poison-free area, be treatment free, and let the bees do their bee thing. The hive will be occupied when the bees decide to move in...until then, it's just 'yard-art.'
