The Victor 10-50 was introduced in March 1927 as the first phonograph with a record-changer manufactured for home use. The retail price was Six Hundred Dollars, which at the time was quite pricey, nearly the same as two Chevrolet cars. It features the largest inside exponential horn Victor offered at the time, 33% larger than the Victor Credenza Horn. The walnut cabinet stands almost 50 inches tall , four feet wide and a little over 25 inches deep. In operation, the changer will hold up to twelve records. After each play, the finished record is safely slipped into a compartment, lined with felt and padded. The process looks and sounds damaging to the record, but it is not. There are numerous parts to this model that were originally made of pot-metal, which has a tendency to swell, warp, crack and crumble over the years. A replacement kit, made by Mr. Mark Lynch of Sound Investments replaces all of those parts with new ones made of lasting, quality materials. This machine is said to weigh 300 pounds but 600 plus seems more likely.
