Gloria is on the cusp of a West End musical theatre career. We follow her as she auditions for a role in a show in a youth music theatre all the way through to the opening night. She is an actor/musician, playing music but also acting. Along the way she compares life as a drama student with what it is actually like to tread the boards as part of a working show. 1000 LONDONERS This film is part of 1000 Londoners, a five-year digital project which aims to create a digital portrait of a city through 1000 of the people who identify themselves with it. The profile contains a 3 minute film that gives an insight into the life of the Londoner, as well as their personal photos of London and some answers to crucial questions about their views on London life. I'm 19. I'm midway through my first year of dram school, studying acting musicianship. Well done guys, some really nice work there. If I get in to one of the shows, the people I could be working with are relatively acclaimed and has CVs as long as my arm. I am definitely a joker, not always at the best times but to anyone, I don't care how old you are. Do you remember playing 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?'. Oh my god. I like people, I guess. Outside if you want but just have a look at that. Gloria you're up. Hello. Shall we do the whole scene? Oh, okay. The hardest thing was singing with a cold and trying to ignore the fact that I had a cold and getting myself to just sing. You put...You put your arm in mine. It really racked my nerves, that's why I convinced my self I hadn't gone in to anything. I was so focussed on my cold that it ruined everything. Could be... Good. I guess I tempted it. But I kind of wish I had just done it without worrying about anything else. When I was 12, a certain something called 'High School Musical' came along. It kind of changed my focus because I wanted to be a lawyer and then this happened and I was like "nope, age 12, I'm going to be a performer, I'm going to entertain, I'm going to sing, I'm going to dance, I'm going to act". I do not like... I just find that sometimes in class it's very student-teacher and because of that, sometimes there's a fear of wanting to use your initiative because you're afraid you're wrong. At NYMT they're all about using your initiative. It's amazing, it's almost like one step closer. As opposed to doing local theatre it's one step closer and it feels great. (Singing)
