The Giant Og 📜 Israel´s War with the Giants 📚 Legends of the Jews

The Giant Kings of the Amorites Og and Sihon. The Amorites of Bashan, the Last of Giants. The Legends of the Jews by Rabbi Louis Ginzberg. Volume 3. The account is based on all the available ancient Hebrew sources of Apocrypha, the Talmud, Aggadah and Midrash. LibriVox Recording. Public domain. Music, audio, picture and text editing by me. Enjoy those great Old Testament stories (expounded in the Agaddah) which confirm with the Book of Enoch (as the Land of the Giant Og was next to the Mount Hermon where the Watchers descended on Earth (Book of Enoch 6). Not alone Sihon and Og, the kings of the Amorites, were such giants and heroes, but all the Amorites. The King Og was not only last of giants in time, but also in significance, for despite his height and strength, he was the most insignificant of the giants who perished in the flood. During his reign he founded sixty cities, that he surrounded with high walls, the lowest of which was not less than sixty miles in height ---- Check the Book "Giant Cities of Bashan" ---https://www.amazon.com/Giant-Cities-B... OG AND SIHON WERE GRANCHILDREN OF SHEMHAZAI ONE OF FALLEN ANGELS WHO DESCENDED ON THE MOUNT HERMON (Book of Enoch 6) ---- "This Amorite king, and likewise Og, the king of Basham, were sons of Ahiah, whose father Shemhazai was one of the fallen angels. In accordance with his celestial origin Sihon was a giant who none could withstand, for he was of enormous stature, taller than any tower in all the world, his thigh-bone alone measuring eighteen cubits, according to the big cubit of that time. In spite of his huge size he was also fleet of foot, wherefore he was called Sihon, "foal," to indicate the celerity with which he moved, for his true name was Arad." --- The Legends of the Jews. Volume 3. OG WAS 500 YEARS OD - "Moses had now witnessed Og with his own eyes, but he also thought: "I am only one hundred and twenty years old, whereas he is more than five hundred. Surely he could never have attained so great an age, had he not performed meritorious deeds." [691] Moses also remembered that Og was the only giant that had escaped the hand of Amraphel, and he perceived in this a token of God's special favor toward Og." --- The Legends of the Jews. Volume 3. "This Amorite giant Og never in all his days made use of a wooden chair or bed, as these would have broken down beneath his weight, but sat upon iron chairs and lay upon iron beds. He was not only of gigantic build and strength, but of a breadth also that was completely out of proportion even with his height, for his breadth was one half his height, whereas the normal proportion of breadth to height is as one to three." --- The Legends of the Jews. Volume 3. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- In the Talmud ----- The Jewish Talmud embellishes the story, stating that Og was so large that he sought the destruction of the Israelites by uprooting a mountain so large, that it would have crushed the entire Israelite encampment. The Lord caused a swarm of ants to dig away the center of the mountain, which was resting on Og's head. The mountain then fell onto Og's shoulders. As Og attempted to lift the mountain off himself, the Lord caused Og's teeth to lengthen outward, becoming embedded into the mountain that was now surrounding his head. Moses, fulfilling the LORD's injunction not to fear him, seized a stick of ten cubits length, and jumped a similar vertical distance, succeeding in striking Og in the ankle. Og fell down and died upon hitting the ground. In Islam ----- The giant 'Uj ibn 'Unuq Carries a Mountain with which to kill Moses and His Men 'Uj ibn Anaq ('Ûj ibn 'Anâq) is a giant in Islamic mythology although not mentioned in the Quran. The origins of this character lay in Jewish folklore and the Old Testament, e.g. king Og. He takes his matronymic from his mother ʿAnāq (daughter of Adam) who begat him after an incestuous affair. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MORE - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Og ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Og, King of Bashan: Underworld Ruler or Ancient Giant?
