This TAS reaches 668 points in the Pokeathlon Jump Course from Pokemon HeartGold, accomplished with savestates, frame-by-frame input and brute-force tools. The goal of the TAS is to achieve the maximum score in the Pokeathlon Jump Course. The course has three events: Lamp Jump, Disc Catch and Hurdle Dash. Unfortunately, two of these events (Disc Catch and Hurdle Dash) have point formulas that don't allow for 200 points, so the perfect 777 points is off the table. Despite that, I think it's the most interesting out of all the courses with quite a few nuances required to reach an optimal (I think) 668 points. Already at team selection there's a problem: to get the optimal 151 score in Hurdle Dash we need our Pokemon to have perfect Speed and Skill, but that's impossible while also getting the highest challenge point bonus. I thought I would need to choose Magikarp with 5⭐ Speed and 4⭐ Jump since I also need to reach the highest lamps in Lamp Jump, which would get me 149 in Hurdle Dash. However, I found a better setup: two Magikarp and one Burmy with 5⭐ Speed, 4⭐ Skill, and 2⭐ Jump. That's enough for 150 in Hurdle Dash, and Burmy can jump just high enough to get 8 lamps per cycle in Lamp Jump. It's important that Burmy hits as many lamps as possible since otherwise it would fall too far behind to get the leading score bonus tie. Lamp Jump: I need to score at least 700 to get 200 points in this event. Only 25 out of the 29 lamps regenerate each cycle, so I always leave four untouched up until the last cycle. This makes it so there are no gaps that would reduce scoring. The other trick is to jump with Burmy right before the lamps regenerate so it hits the same column on the way up and down. This is the only way to make it hit 8 lamps per jump, and is optimal point-wise. I also chose the seed so that all four unlit lamps are in the same column at the start. Disc Catch: Not that much happening visually, but this event is the most painful I've had to TAS by quite a bit. This is because I need to manipulate the RNG for every disc so that they have the most sideways vector possible. This allows me to catch them earlier because they have a constant vertical speed regardless of the horizontal speed, and the point zones extend slightly upwards on the edges of the platform. Starting at 20 seconds remaining, the discs also have a 1/2 chance to have double speed, which I also need to manipulate. I can manipulate RNG by pushing the AI's Pokemon in or out of the trajectories of the discs, since they call RNG when they are in range for catching a disc to decide if they should jump or not. This is made more difficult by the fact that all my Pokemon have the minimum possible pushing power (1⭐ Power and minimum size). I barely reach 155 which is the breakpoint for scoring 141 points. To get 142, I would need to score 175 which seems impossible. In an individual event setting, it might be possible to get 160 or 165 points by getting all perfect vectors and using Pokemon with larger hitboxes. Hurdle Dash: Not much to say that I didn't mention in the team selection part. Rerecords: 9836 0:00 Power On 0:54 Lamp Jump 2:19 Disc Catch 3:44 Hurdle Dash 4:36 Final Countdown 🔗 Related Links: ・Japanese TASer (´・ω・`)’s Individual event Tases: https://www.nicovideo.jp/user/1184552... ・TASVideos — Learn more about TASes: https://tasvideos.org/
