Making a Trifold Leather Wallet We decided to prototype a simple slim leather Trifold wallet to eventually add to our product line. We prefer to make our samples in leather so that we can make adjustments in real-time, so we used scrap natural vegetable tanned leather to make this trifold wallet. To make this trifold wallet, I made a simple pattern in Adobe Illustrator and printed it out. Then I cut out the trifold pieces and assembled the trifold wallet out of scrap natural vegetable tanned leather. I used polyester threads from Weaver Leather. Trifold wallets are a bit tricky to make out of vegetable tanned leather because they require two separate folds in the exterior shell. Just make sure to size the shell about 1/2" larger than the interior per fold, so in the case of a tri-fold about 1" extra (depending on leather thickness, sometimes a bit less sometimes a bit more). You should have a good looking trifold if you remember to do this!
