Hello, future admit! Welcome or welcome back to my channel. This fall, I got into Cornell University, and specifically, the Charles H. Dyson School of Business. My full essay: What kind of business student are you? Using your personal, academic, or volunteer/work experiences, describe the topics or issues that you care about and why they are important to you. how you want to study business at Cornell. how you are an excellent fit for the school to which you apply. Stuffing my overflowing IKEA cupboard with plastic bottles I intended to reuse, I was crushed by the dystopian vision of a withering planet. Even more disappointed because I was twelve, and my aching desire to save the planet was overpowered by an inability to make an impact. As I grew up from a tween to adolescent, my environmental efforts were becoming increasingly pronounced, as I developed my communication skills, approached the unthinkable at my own pace and chased opportunities that allowed me to pursue my passions. At the SC Johnson College Dyson School I will seek academic excellence and all campus internal and external possibilities to advance my professional skills and knowledge in my career and prepare me to face the workforce. My own experience in an Entrepreneurship and Business Start-Ups summer course enlightened the rudiments of the industry, as I studied Investors and Venture Capitalists, as well as how to operate a business plan and franchise a business. Studying the Applied Economics and Management major with a concentration in Marketing and Organization will immerse me in the utterly exciting world of entrepreneurship, not only strengthening my knowledge and expertise in business, but providing me with the opportunity to launch my future career with a sturdy foundation laid by the quality academic courses offered at Cornell University. I am thrilled to meet the concentration professor, Stijn Van Osselaer, and establish a deep comprehension of consumer behaviors and sales patterns from his heightened scope of knowledge. I’m eager to collaborate with other professors and institutions when engaging in research ventures, utilising my experience of executing research on space-based future energies with MGIMO professor Dr. Igbal Guliev. In particular, I would love to perform cross-institutional research at Atkinson sustainability center and cooperate with senior Marketing and Organization lecturer Stephen J. Sauer when doing so. Conducting research as undergraduate college student will undeniably help me refine principal skills, such as responding to criticism, collaboration and critical thinking. Aside from delving into the universe of Economics and Business, I plan to carry on studying in the realm of Environmental sciences, choosing the Environment & Sustainabilty minor in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences as the establishment from which to acquire proficiency. In my two weeks of interning at a national recycling center, I have significantly developed my work ethic by going beyond what I was asked for and enhancing the quality and quantity of my results. Additionally, working in a stressful environment such as the recycling headquarters has helped me amplify my perseverance and focus my goal-oriented mindset on the bettering of society. These are all skills I am very keen on bringing with me to the campus. Beyond the curricula of my classes, I hope to put my love for learning into practice, by engaging in summer field research programs, such as the Susan Tarrow fellowship, allowing my curiosity to drive me to European countries in pursuit of knowledge. Additionally, I would love to hold a leadership status and therefore wish to apply for a position in the Dean’s Community Leadership Council. Being a part of such an impactful association will allow me to serve my community by listening to the voices of the student body as well as expressing my own concerns and suggestions. Offering an incredibly broad range of courses and student opportunities, the SC Johnson Dyson School of Business is an ideal institution for me to explore my interests, learn and study among a driven body of students from all around the world, and make my dreams come to life. I therefore hope to find truth in Ezra Cornell’s quotation: "I would found an institution where any person can find instruction in any study." I believe that with its balanced ratio of academics to student life, accompanied by the sensational setting of the campus, Cornell University will be a life-changing step in my climb to become a successful social entrepreneur.
