Welcome back! Today we go on what should be an easy run, but discover that beach runs can be monstrously difficult in a different way! This is also Part 2 of our discussion on WHY RUN? (Part 1 was the Rio Hondo Montebello Hills to Legg Lake run). I recap Part 1 where I discussed what it means to hate runs and why we want to understand this (hint: so we can conquer this feeling better). Here I give 4 reasons for why I run. Why should it matter? As a reluctant runner with no special talents, I’ve had to drag my fat ass off the couch and onto the track and now have run thousands of miles. This gives me an insight you might not get from other awesome runners… runners who beat others as kids, runners who win races occasionally, runners who actually run for the sheer pleasure of it. This is great, but not everyone sees themselves as these great runners do. I’d like to show those who might fear running that there are others who feel the same way, and you can conquer that, little by little. I give my reasons and maybe they can inspire you to find them inside you, or find other reasons to run. The important point is to inspire you to run, and if an average reluctant runner can run this many miles, so can you! Along the way, we enjoy the sights along the beach. We climb Point Dume and watch the shoreline, we run alongside the beach as the sun is setting and bask in the cool summer breeze. Hopefully you too can reward yourself with a beach run, just be ready for some tired legs because the sand is no joke!
