Transcript: Updates for this week: Governor Wes Moore welcomed the Maryland Legislative Jewish Caucus to breakfast this Purim morning for a wonderful gathering and discussion. Many thanks, Governor Moore, for the substantive conversation and for your friendship and support! Next. Governor Wes Moore today testified in front of the Senate Finance Committee in support of the Protection from Predatory Pricing Act - prohibits the use of “dynamic pricing” in grocery stores to ensure that price setting technologies are not used against Maryland consumers and the Maryland Transit and Housing Opportunity Act - addresses zoning and financing barriers to create more jobs and housing near transit. Both bills are central to the governor’s legislative agenda to make Maryland more affordable and competitive by increasing transparency in grocery store pricing, accelerating housing production, and encouraging economic development where Marylanders live, work, and travel. Next. Governor Moore chaired the Board of Public Works Meeting. Check out the links on the agency, county, vendors and the amount of funding they are allocating expenses for and you will also be able to view the meeting virtually with the link for YouTube. Next. Congratulations to the Richardson School of Music! Secretary Jake Day joined Governor Wes Moore to celebrate at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new permanent location of the Takoma Park business, which is dedicated to educating and instructing children, teens and adults in the performance and appreciation of music. The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) provided $150,000 in grant funding to the Richardson School of Music towards this new location. Next. Lt. Governor Miller shared a wonderful welcome to mayors across the state of Maryland to the Government House for the Maryland Mayors Association annual reception. Our mayors are on the front lines every day listening to their communities, solving problems and helping their towns grow and thrive. She is grateful for the partnership we share as we work together to strengthen communities across our state. Next. Governor Wes Moore and First Lady Dawn Moore traveled to Selma, Alabama to commemorate the 61st anniversary of Bloody Sunday. While in Alabama, Governor Moore gave the keynote address at the Historic Tabernacle Baptist Church and marched on the Edmund Pettus Bridge alongside tens of thousands of participants. He also spoke at the Legal Defense Fund Annual Selma Jubilee Panel and the Martin and Coretta King Beloved Community Unity Breakfast.
