I've got a new cookbook! 'Traditional Recipes of the British Isles. It's a vintage cookbook with traditional recipes from every county in the U.K. I thought I'd test it out by making Welsh Rarebit (Welsh Rabbit) for the first time. In this video I also taste-test Licorice Allsorts and Hobnobs. This is my family's bread recipe that I use in the video. Grandma's Yeast Bread Ingredients 1 pkg. dry yeast 1 c. warm water 1T. sugar 1/4 c. oil or shortening 1/2 tsp. salt flour Directions: Add yeast to water and sugar. Let dissolve. While water is still somewhat warm, add 1/2 c. flour. This will make a batter. Add shortening or oil and salt to batter. Mix well. Gradually add enough flour to make a good dough, not sticky. Knead well and roll into large ball. Place in oiled bowl, turning once to oil top of ball. Let rise until double. Pre-heat oven to 350°. Shape and place into loaf pan and let rise again until double. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, until golden brown. Note: This recipe makes great cinnamon rolls or dinner rolls.
