The Pre-Columbian mummy: This is a Pre-Columbian mummy replica, inspired by the funerary traditions of Andean civilizations such as the Inca, Chimú, and Chachapoyas. The replica was built around a life-size anatomical PVC skeleton weighing 25 kg, forming the core of the body. The mummy is wrapped as a traditional funerary bundle, using plant-fiber textiles (linen) and tightly bound with over 30 meters of linen rope, recreating the extreme compression seen in original Andean mummies. To achieve the appearance of desiccated, mummified skin, I created an artificial skin using liquid neoprene glue, with ashes applied on the surface to give it a dry, aged, and organic texture. This replica is the result of extensive visual research, based on numerous reference photographs of mummies from different cultures of the Andean mountain range. Every fold, tension, and surface detail was carefully worked to reflect the diversity and realism of these ancient funerary practices. The wrapping process alone took approximately 2 hours. Creating the artificial skin (head, hands, feet, and details) required around 5 hours, followed by an additional 5 hours dedicated to shaping the folds and refining the final appearance. This project is both an artistic and historical reconstruction, paying tribute to the craftsmanship and rituals of Pre-Columbian civilizations. The shrunken heads: Shrunken heads are produced using the same process, but with either a paper ball as a base—which is later dissolved in water—or a small PVC skull that serves as the base and support for what will become the artificial skin. It takes approximately 48 to 72 hours to complete a head, allowing time to implant the hair and create the details (wrinkles, skin folds, ears, etc.). Biography / Artist Statement: I am an independent creator with a strong passion for cinema, fiction, archaeology, and vintage video games. I have been producing amateur narrative works since 1996, guided by a set of deliberate creative constraints: achieving the highest possible level of quality with minimal financial resources, within very limited timeframes, and relying entirely on improvisation. My practice favors practical effects and handcrafted solutions, with little to no use of AI or digital technologies. Digital tools are employed only when required by legal or logistical constraints, such as restrictive regulations concerning the use of firearms (even blank or replica weapons), or the inability to obtain filming permits due to budgetary limitations. At the core of my work is the creation of unconventional narratives and eccentric characters. Among them are “Zombie Grandma Nova”, a parody inspired by a well-known French yogurt brand, “The Killer Garden Gnomes”, in which an ancient demon is accidentally resurrected and comes to possess garden gnomes, and “Cliclo the Clown”, a recurring character featured in the parody fiction saga “The Cliclo Project”, which follows two YouTube “ghost hunters” who become entangled in a supernatural curse. Some of these characters and fictional universes have been further developed and preserved through self-published novels and comic books. #precolumbian #Mummy #MummyReplica #AncientCivilizations #Archaeology #History #AncientHistory #PreColumbianArt #MuseumReplica #culturalheritage
