On June 14 & 15, 2025, Middle Tennessee Rail Productions returned to northeast Indiana to document Nickel Plate Road #765 during a weekend of the Indiana Rail Experience's Tri-State Scenic Steam Excursions. Huge shoutout to @chendersonrailproductions704 for having me along for the occasion. On Saturday, we would chase the train from the small town of Edon, Ohio all the way to the city of Hillsdale, MI and back, getting a plethora of shots along the way. While the weather was a bit misty and groggy at the beginning of the chase, it slowly improved and stayed relatively cool for the majority of the day. After the train returned to Edon, we stuck around for the ferry move back up to Hillsdale to turn the train around for the following morning's departure. This move would be led by NKP EMD SD9 #358, which had been fairly recently restored to operating condition. We would chase the train as far as Fremont before heading back to Auburn for dinner and some rest. Y'all can view the video of #358 at this link: • Nickel Plate Road 358 - Tri-State Turnarou... Sunday would bring a clear and beautiful day and quite a special treat mounted on #765's auxiliary whistle valve. The replica Reading 6-chime whistle off of Reading T-1 class 4-8-4 #2100 would be along for the ride atop #765 for the day, making for quite the experience. If y'all wish to support the restoration of the #2100, please feel free to visit their website here: https://www.americansteamrailroad.org/ Also, if y'all wish to support the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society in their epic endeavors, here is a link their website: https://fortwaynerailroad.org/ Feel free to check out the Indiana Rail Experience's website to support them, too: https://www.indianarailexperience.org/ I would only get a few shots of the #765 with #2100's whistle, however, as I had to start heading for home as it would take me nearly 7 hours from my last shot in Angola. Overall, this was an amazing trip and I hope to return soon! I hope y'all enjoy!
