Drawing from 3D Models [Using Google Sketchup for your Comics]

I’ve mentioned before that I use Google Sketchup to create model of elements to I use over and over again in my comics. Whether it’s simple things like furniture, interior spaces, buildings or vehicles, using these Sketchup Models can help with perspective drawing as well as becoming a huge time saver. I like to design things in Sketchup to help figure out what something might look like in three dimensions. It also can help me get the best view of the scene if I can rotate the model and figure out the best location for the camera. Google Sketchup is a very helpful and simple to use tool the helps you create and design. This particular video is not necessarily a Sketchup Tutorial, because I’m not giving instruction on how to use to the program, per se. But more of a walkthrough of the design of a space the help select the best shot for my comic panel scene. I will create more Sketchup Video Tutorials for beginners that are more instructional, but this one will be a walk though to go from sketch, to model, to finished shot. Creating with Sketchup is really great. I use it for perspective drawing and to simplify my process. Now I’m using Google Sketchup 2016, because I just happened to have it downloaded on my computer and it still works. I understand that the free version of Sketchup now has to be done online through your browser. I’m not exactly sure how this version works and if it keeps all of your assets in the cloud.
