Competitive Pokemon Singles is not a world where Gardevoir has necessarily thrived. In it's debut game of Gen 3, it is a niche choice in competitive, occasionally used for its unique tools like Memento and the ability Trace. Overall Gardevoir struggled to set itself apart very much from existing Psychic types who do similar things better. Gardevoir did receive a significant buff in Gen 6 though where it became a Psychic/Fairy type, and it also has one of the best Mega Evolutions of Gen 6 OU to it's name.
