DJI OSMO Nano: https://amzn.to/4rM68ND Newer Variable ND Set: https://amzn.to/48GXffm Smallrig Clamp: https://amzn.to/4a99DqY December’s in full swing, and today we're finally heading out to pick up our Christmas tree — all while putting the DJI Osmo Nano through its paces again. I’ve been daily-carrying this tiny camera for a month now, and thanks to DJI’s latest firmware update, it’s officially getting better in all the ways that matter for real-world creators. In this video, I break down the new update that finally lets you preview yourself while the mic is plugged in — a small but game-changing fix for anyone who vlogs solo. You still can’t monitor yourself during recording, but being able to see your frame right up to the moment you hit record is a huge efficiency win. When you’re filming life as it happens — dad moments, errands, chaos, whatever — efficiency matters more than specs. We take the Nano with us to Home Depot (where, yes, last year an old man tried to cut me in line — Christmas spirit tested 😅). Then back home, I talk about why the Nano is replacing my mirrorless camera for daily use: less weight, less setup, and way more real moments captured. If my life’s a movie, I want it to feel like a documentary — raw, honest, and fast. I also dive into the practical upgrades I’ve made on my own: • Black paper tape mod — keeps the camera discreet, adds grip, and even helps cushion drops. • Variable ND + diffusion + CPL — using filters built for the Action 4/5 (shoutout to Neewer for the $32 set). • Creative mounting ideas — magnets, clamps, velcro, whatever makes the shot work. With a camera this small, you can put it practically anywhere. After a full month of use, I still haven’t had the Nano overheat once — even in 20+ minute recordings, inside pockets, 4K 24fps, or short bursts of slow-mo. No action sports for me, but for daily vlogging, it’s been rock solid. If you want to see how this tiny camera fits into real life — Christmas tree runs, dad life, and the never-ending hunt for better workflow — this video is for you. Real moments over perfect pixels.
