🌊 Traeth Llanddwyn (Llanddwyn Beach) – Anglesey, Wales 🇬🇧 Traeth Llanddwyn — commonly known as Llanddwyn Beach — is a stunning sandy beach on the south-western tip of Anglesey, backed by dunes and the Newborough National Nature Reserve and forest. It’s famed for its views of Snowdonia, beautiful walking trails, and the tidal Ynys Llanddwyn (Llanddwyn Island) with the Tŵr Mawr lighthouse and historic ruins. Key things to know for a vanlife visit: 🚐 Vanlife & Wild Camping Rules Overnight parking and camping right at Llanddwyn Beach is not allowed — signs and barriers are in place to prevent overnight stays in the beach car parks. The local authority and Natural Resources Wales (NRW) actively discourage and enforce against wild camping along the beach or in the adjacent forest, due to fire risk and environmental protection. Illegal camping and campfires have previously caused fires and conflict with residents. In Wales generally, wild camping without landowner permission is not legal, and on private or managed land officials can ask you to leave (and in rare cases fines or enforcement might follow). ⚠️ This means that simple “park up overnight at the beach” vanlife isn’t legal here — and even if there’s little enforcement in some remote spots, expect wardens to patrol and signage is clear about restrictions. 🏕️ Better Options Nearby — Campsites & Motorhome Spots If you’re touring Anglesey in a campervan or motorhome and want a safe place to stay (often with facilities), here are highly rated spots within a short drive of Llanddwyn: Close to Llanddwyn / Newborough area Maes Tywyn Campsite – Excellent reviewed campsite close to the beach. Newborough Forest Holiday Park – Caravan & camping park near Newborough. Tŷ Croes Farm & Vineyard Campsite – Farm campsite with good facilities. Newborough Holiday Park – Larger holiday park near the forest. Afon Braint Caravan and Motorhome CL Site – Camper-friendly CL site near Niwbwrch. Brambles Caravan & Motorhome Club CL Site – Highly rated small caravanning location. Other campervan & camping options around Anglesey Y Wern C.L Site – Small peaceful site. Pen‑y‑Bont Farm – Farm campsite a little further out. Caeau Crinion Camping & Caravanning Site – Quiet CL site. Taihirion Farm Campsite – Popular with campers. Frongoch Campsite C&CC 5cs, Anglesey Bryn Hyfryd Camping, Llanfair Bach Caravan and Camping Site, and Pencraig Campsite – Other well-liked options across the island. 💡 Most of these sites allow campervans, tents, and often motorhomes, offering proper overnight stays with toilets, pitches, and sometimes electricity. 🏖️ Tips for Visiting Visit at low tide to walk out to Ynys Llanddwyn safely — tides can cut access at high tide. Enjoy walks through Newborough Forest and dune trails. Bring everything you need, as there are few facilities on the beach itself (toilets are at the car park).
