On 7 July 1965, ITN's Sandy Gall reported from Saigon, the capital of the Republic of Vietnam, some four months after the United States escalated its involvement in the Vietnam War by deploying Marines to Da Nang. Gall reported on struggle of the US-backed government to maintain an open, vibrant atmosphere amidst its efforts to combat the ongoing Viet Cong insurgency.
