The celebration of the traditional Khmer New Year is just around the corner! What makes this year even more special is the inauguration of two significant development projects, set to be officially opened for public use in early April. First up, we have the Kampot International Tourism Port, officially inaugurated on April 3, 2025. Developed by Kampot International Tourism Port Development Co., Ltd., in partnership with the Royal Government of Cambodia, this port spans 4 hectares of land in Jom Kriel Village, Teuk Chhou District, Kampot Province. With construction starting in August 2018 and completed at the end of 2022, this project represents an investment of over 11 million dollars, funded by the Asian Development Bank. The port aims to protect the region’s natural beauty while accommodating the increasing number of visitors, creating new business opportunities, driving local investments, and generating employment for the community. Next, we have the Morodok Techo Interchange, Cambodia’s first-ever two-level overpass, set to officially open on April 7, 2025. This ambitious project commenced construction on August 31, 2022, initiated by the Royal Government of Cambodia through the Phnom Penh Capital Administration and built by the Overseas Cambodian Investment Corporation, with an investment of approximately 36.77 million dollars. Once operational, this interchange will significantly improve traffic flow and reduce congestion at the busy intersection of Preah Monivong Boulevard, the Cambodian Armed Forces Boulevard, and Samdech Techo Hun Sen Boulevard.
