You would save me a bench at the gym, waiting for me to arrive with my body glistening with sparkle sweat of the Gods. You held your hand out with a spoonful of food whenever you ate, waiting for my soft, pouty lips to come snatch it. You would only use the right earbud of your earphones because you knew the left earbud was only there to penetrate my eardrum. You would only ride a bicycle with two seats knowing the seat in front of you will have the warmth of my squat big booty. You would walk for hours in the park with your left hand sticking out knowing that I’m holding it with my right. You hold every door open so I would walk in before you because your eyes thirsted for ‘the view.’ You would call out my name from the mountain tops. You never let anyone steal your heart because you knew I would come take it away, one day. You told your lips that they will soon be embraced by the lips of the Gods. You refused to take on a lover because the only one who had the key to your body was me. This used to be you. You used to be me. We used to be one. Where are you? Where’s us? You changed. Then came the time of my absence, where you: You started flirting with strangers. You wrote your name without adding mine. You never bought two of anything. You chainsawed the king sized mattress in half and burnt the side on which I laid. You went to the movies and said ‘(Insert movie name here) for one, please.’ You let your fingers embrace other fingers that were as cold as yours. You let anyone sit in the seat next to you on the bus. You started doing CrossFit. You let others feed you. You started using headphones You bought a unicycle. You started to use your hands to touch anyone with a heartbeat. You started using your eyes to objectify other men and their bodies. You would scream others’ names in late hours of the nights as the bed rocked. You let others steal your heart, the heart you kept for me. You let your lips taste the lips of mere mortals. You took on as many lovers as you could. You wrote my eulogy. What’s changed is I’m back and you’ve moved on in the direction that I’m never going to go in. You should’ve waited because you were waiting for me, for greatness. Sometimes the greatest things that life has to offer come with the sacrifice of the most priceless thing in life, time. Is it worth waiting for someone who can rap almost every Lil’ Wayne and Tupac song while twerking simultaneously on his motorcycle which is going above 60 miles per hour. Someone who is part of the ‘225 club of the Gods’ at the gym. Someone who only dates girls based on their looks because his personality is so awesome that it’ll make up for hers. Someone who has earned the title of ‘slut’ and also has it engraved on a name tag that he wears to job fairs and parent-teacher conferences. Someone who inhales a straight line of sugar(real sugar) from his desk with his left nostril, in front of a college professor before taking the final exam and saying ‘That hit the spot, now let’s take this exam!’ because he just watched Narcos before coming to class. Someone who has hit the d-town dougie in front of a college class before giving a presentation on 'business ethics' to get everyone’s attention and style points from the hottie sitting in the front row. Someone that is willing to adopt and raise you as his own child but will rename you ‘Torple’ cause it’s funny that way. Someone that never stopped loving you. Now you tell me if that’s someone who’s worth waiting for?
