Gordon Freeman tries and fails to continue his On a Rail journey, as his track is blown up by the grumpy Marine Corps. Gordon crashes and he crashes hard into the old industrial areas of Black Mesa that are now flooded, with no chance of telling whether their sorry state is a pre or post-Resonance Cascade affair. He encounters the Ichthyosaur, which is rather difficult to spell. He manages to defeat three of those fuckers before making his way topside again. He finds out that the reason the military has been so successful with their ambushes and they always seem to show up wherever he is is because they have been tracking him via the HEV Suit. Double edged sword that damned thing, but not really. Gordon is advised to stay in the old industrial areas. He encounters the first of the Black Ops gimp ladies on the surface who he defeats with great ease! Also he sees Barns aka just Barney from Azure Sheep. The military has a clear advantage against Gordon, as like the Zulu Kingdom VS the British Empire or Circassia VS Russia, or even Spartacus against the armies of Rome - no matter how many times Gordon wins against the military, he is at a constant disadvantage, and the military can always send another squad, another force. One loss is enough to mean annihilation for Gordon. Gman shows up in this one. Apprehensive Short returns when Gordon sees Muddy. Bass String Short accompanies Gordon in the freezer area. Scared Confusion Short plays after Barns is seemingly assassinated by the Black Ops. Three songs by zeNate accompany the battles of this chapter: Caliginous Ambush plays during the first Muddy fight, Point Taken during the second one.
