Is Vietnam Really Communist? Yes and No. (Politics)

After living in Vietnam for 10 years total (out now) - this is what I think about the Communists in Vietnam -- Yes, it is a Communist country, but really only a one-party government. As a tourist or expat her in Saigon, you will see the progress the country has made. Its a growing, thriving economy, with a growing middle-class and a great future ahead. Living in Saigon, Vietnam is a great experience. The friendly people, interesting culture, food, and landscape all contribute to the experience. Like any place, problems exist, but things are changing. Life here is great, and I certainly urge people to put Vietnam on their list of places to visit. Sometimes I sound like the "Tourist Bureau" for Vietnam, but its only because I have a lot of respect and enthusiasm for it. I look at my own country and can't imagine going back there.
