LaLeLu: Umbala (composed by Sören Sieg)

2001 I wrote this song for my a cappella group LaLeLu which became soon one of our most popular songs. It has been sung at baptisms, weddings, birthdays and funerals. The lyrics are partly a fantasy language and partly Xhosa and mean: "I wish to be far away from here, with the one I love." For this music video, I combined our recording from our album "Große Kunst. Für sehr viel Geld" (2003) and some films I made during my Africa travel in 2016. The films were shot in Uganda, South Africa, and Ghana. I wish to thank Jan Melzer, Tobias Hanf and Sonja Wilts for singing this beautiful recording with me. And I wish to thank all LaLeLus - including Sanna Nyman and Stefanie Hoffmann - for the incredible 18 years together.
