#UniversityofGothenburg #Plantscience #saltstress Salt stress experiment in Triticum aestivum (wheat) and Phaseolus vulgaris var kidney (kidney beans) done at the Biological and environmental department of the University of Gothenburg. The plants were grown in soil mixed with vermiculate with 22ºC and a light intensity of 250 μmol m-2 s-1 for 2 weeks. The plants were divided into a) Salt stressed plants: watered with 200 and 500 mM NaCl solutions and b) Control plants: watered with regular (tap) water. After one week the morphological and physiological changes due to the salt stress were detected by photosynthesis analysis (Performance Index, PI, and maximum quantum yield of photosystem II activity, Fv/Fm), Chlorophyll and carotenoid content, the state of the leaves, and roots length.
