TOURING setups, which one is the better buy? this guide shall show you the very obviuos differences beside just the comparison of the brand name and old memories how it was 10y ago. malossi sport 210:2014, new: • vespa MALOSSI SPORT 210 new 2016 version U... complete new port layout cvf piston with 2 thin rings = the best piston piston coated since 2016 version and from vertex sport 210 is perfect for longstroke = ideal cyl timings! comes in 3 versions: sport 210, MHR 210, MHR 221 malossi sport vs malossi old differences • vespa MALOSSI 210 old vs SPORT:2014 cylind... polini 210:2011 new1) cyl head was added new2) new material = aluminium new3) 221ccm longstroke version available old1) same very old asso piston from the 80ies, with thick top L piston ring, still missing rips below the roof (and no cvf system, so piston covers the side ports) old2) exact the same old cylinder port layout & exhaust port old3) still low cyl timings, just 5degree higher than the old 207ccm (therefore not really more power in aluminium version) = an update without love, more an optical update for better selling ;) (so see polini 177 aluminium, similiar problem there: • NEW vespa POLINI 177 aluminium race cylind... new polini 210 vs old polini 207, exactly samesame: • vespa POLINI 210 alloy is still the old PO... POLINI 210 it is!! NOT. till 2014 the polini 210 cast iron and aluminum where first choice for touring setups, this info is still around since 2014 BUT its not correct anymore. malossi technically updated the weak malossi "old", gave him a complete new port layout. 3 versions available: sport 210 (rotary valve) MHR 210 & MHR 221 (reed valve). polini optical update 2011: change of material, aluminium insttead of cast iron and cylinderhead, same port layout, same exhaust port shape and sadly same VERY OLD asso piston with L ring, that was also used in pinasco 213 one port cylinders yes, we all prayed to get a polini in aluminium, the best material no: we didnt expect malossi to publish 3 new cylinders, esp the sport MALOSSI SPORT 210 it is! its the best touring cylinder for 200ccm engines. best price performance ratio. pnp 17bhp normalstroke or long stroke? its same same, same speed on the street just a bit a different band. both fine. so if the original crank is fine and fits the engine case (0,05mm rotary valve clearance) stick to it, cause u dont know if a replica tuning crank will fit as good, so renewing rotary valve might be needed 210ccm, 57mm: • vespa malossi 210 / 0-100kmh acceleration ... 221ccm, 60mm: • vespa MALOSSI 210 / acceleration 0-100kmh ... 177ccm has also a lot of potential ;) • vespa 177cc VS 210cc acceleration / polini... ERRORS: 4:40 - the MHR is also rotary valve, is was meant that it sould be used for reed valve and not rotary valve, due to weak power in low revs, as the timings ie 129/185 are too high for box setups setup tips 2come: 210ccm seteup: 57stroke original crank with 0,05mm rv clearance, extented to 75° or 65° with 10° overlapping, exhaust port 60-63%, open the piston, si 24 or 26mm carb, 2,5mm main jet bore, sip fast flow v2, polini box exhaust, jets: idle 2,7 main jet 135-145 depends on tuning stage 221ccm setup: 60mm stroke mazzu with 0,05mm rv clearance, only! TOP gasket, 1,0-1,2mm squish, exhaust port 60-63%, open the piston, si 24 or 26mm carb, 2,5mm main jet bore, sip fast flow v2, polini box exhaust, jets: idle 2,7 main jet 135-145 depends on tuning stage QUATTRINI M244 is a very good cylinder. but its double price for crank and cylinder, ipnp also "only" 17-18bhp, it adds some more power in low rev, but it does not double the power as it does with the brice. its a clear recommendation for reed valve engines for rotary stick to malossi sport thx2dietmar! :) for the permission to use his dynamomenter diagrams in this guide
