After suffering their first loss of the season the week prior, the Marshall Mavericks were looking to right the ship and clinch a playoff berth for the third consecutive year. The Mavericks used a lethal ground attack, churning up 426 yards, in throttling Mount Pleasant, 54-0. Chavis Mills led the Mavericks with 143 yards and a pair of touchdowns on just 8 carries. Cameron Haller got back in the groove after being shut out of the end zone in consecutive weeks, as Haller accounted for 167 total yards and four touchdowns. He completed 3 of 6 pass attempts for 59 yards and a touchdown, and he added 108 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries. The Maverick defense earned their first shutout in the Clint Harper era, and allowed just 195 yards on the night. The Mavericks can clinch their first district title in a decade with a win next week at Sulphur Springs.
