Hanoi# St. Joseph's Cathedral St. Joseph's Cathedral is a Catholic church on Nhà Chung Street, in the Hoàn Kiếm District of Hanoi, Vietnam. It is a late 19th-century Gothic Revival (Neo-Gothic style) church that serves as the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Hanoi. The cathedral is named after Joseph, the patron saint of Vietnam. Construction began in 1884, with an architectural style resembling the Notre Dame de Paris. The church was one of the first structures built by the colonial government of French Indochina when it opened in December, 1886 and is the oldest church in Hanoi. Mass is celebrated in the cathedral several times during the day. For the Sunday Mass at 6:00 PM, large crowds spill out into the streets. Prayers and hymns are broadcast to the plaza outside; Catholics who are unable to enter the cathedral congregate in the street and listen to hymns. Loading T café# Loading T café is a hidden gem located at the border of the French Quarter and Hanoi Old Quarter. The café's quiet atmosphere and fast internet make it an ideal spot for both work and leisure. Its vintage furniture, patterned flooring, and plant-filled corners exude old-world charm, creating an authentic ambiance. Just three minutes walking from the St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Loading T Café, with barely any clues to their existence from the street, is tucked in a crumbling French-colonial house in the unstated border of the French Quarter and Hanoi Old Quarter. The beautiful architecture was built in 1932 and housed one wealthy family, but was appropriated by the communist government and divided into 17 separate dwellings. Loading T Café occupies one of these divisions, while the others remain as family homes. It's difficult to find a coffee shop in Hanoi that offers both good coffee and a pleasant atmosphere.
