The Totem Cam and Basic have marked their rated strength in kN. The strength depends on the cam size. Bigger is stronger is the rule. But... is the strength of the Totem Cam and Basic same when you place them with lobes almost closed or opened? The strength marked on the Totem Cam and Basic is always the lower of both (lobes opened and closed) results obtained in laboratory tests, but... what those laboratory results are? Those tests show that the Totem Cam and Basic strength can be noticeably higher with lobes closed. The difference is more significant in small sizes. But here comes the difference among Totem Cam and Basic. The Totem Cam sizes from 0.65 to 1.80, have similar results when tested in both open or closed placements. Only the new Totem Cam 0.50 has a remarkable difference. However, in the Basic, all sizes excepting the Basic 0.95 have noticeable difference. Comparing same sized Basic and Totem Cam, the Basic could be stronger than Totem Cam when placed with lobes almost closed, even the Totem Cam rated strength is higher!!
