This was a teriffic day trip to the szlajka valley that I took last year with my mom, alexa, and her mom. It was the perfect option for a family outing, and I can say that would be the case for any group you go with - be they kids, adults, or in between. It would also be perfect for a solo adventure as you get a real sense of wonder in the nature out there, and there are plenty of further hiking trails to take advantage of amongst the more rugged sections of the bükk forest. If you want to follow our footsteps you can sandwhich this trip to szilvasvarad with a trip to Eger castle before and/or after. There are a plethora of fantastic bath houses and vineyards in the surrounding region. A trule special part of hungary in Heves county!!!
