The ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X is powerful, pricey, and surprisingly refined. But there’s something different about it. It’s the first handheld that makes Windows 11 actually feel console-like, thanks to the all-new Xbox full-screen mode. The ergonomics, the haptics, the way it handles modern AAA games, it all feels… suspiciously smooth. Yet, there’s no OLED, it’s heavy, and that price tag bites hard. So why does it still feel so tempting? Maybe it’s what’s hiding in the experience, or what it hints at for the future of gaming handhelds. Something tells us this is just the start.
