Incisional hernias occur in 30 percent of patients who have undergone abdominal surgery. Massive ventral hernias pose a serious surgical risk as the hernia fills the abdominal cavity and makes it difficult to separate from surrounding areas. Untreated hernias lead to complications such as incarceration and strangulation. Treatment of such complication needs technical and thorough expertise.
