#death #anatomy #jeremybentham A bit of a WARNING FOR THIS VIDEO, those of a delicate disposition might find this video challenging, as it deals with issues of death, dissection and anatomy, and it shows breifly the remains of a mummified and taxidermined corpse. Jeremy Bentham was a late Georgian philosopher who died in 1832. In the pursuit of the reform of the law on anatomy and dissection in England, he left his body to be dissected and afterwards to be preserved to form what he termed an auto-icon. The auto-icon can still be seen in University College London. This video explores his motivation and the social context in which he made such a bizarre request. MY NEW WEBSITE is not operational.
