Gather 'round, friends, as I tell ye the true tale of the potluck potatoes that weren't, and the potato dish that rose to take their place! For the potluck I'm hosting, I decided to make pommes boulangère, but then, no, wait, potatoes Anna! In this video, I talk about my recipes for both dishes (and how to roast garlic!) and share why I made a last minute switcheroo... after I'd already shot the first video. Whoops! Anyway, in the end, I think I put together a tasty potato recipe perfect for a dinner party. What do you think? Do you have a favorite sharable potato? Both of these recipes are ones I'll keep tweaking. Find me on the internet: instagram.com/emilyslamduncan slamduncan.substack.com Huge thanks to: Producer: Amanda Broll Director of Photography: Colin Jakubczyk Star: The Humble Potato Potatoes Anna recipe: 3-4 Russet potatoes, peeled and sliced (carefully!) with a mandolin* 1/3 cup melted butter 1 head roasted garlic 1-2 Tbsp room temp butter zest of 1 lemon 1 tsp salt 1 tsp black fresh cracked pepper Optional: 1-2 Tbsp olive oil if needed to ensure potato pancake is truly frying), 1/2 tsp lemon juice (add just before baking if you want extra lemon flavor) *honestly, you can keep going as tall as your pan will allow, so add additional potatoes at will and just adjust seasoning Garnish: Kewpie mayo 1 scallion, chopped 1 tsp Aleppo pepper Flaky salt 1 Tbsp grated grana padano Additional lemon zest + pepper to taste
