Located in the eastern district of Málaga, 8.7 kilometers from the city center lies the town of El Palo. It is a tranquil, residential beachfront neighborhood with strong fishing traditions and and prosperous dining scene. Contemporary seafood bistros and local "chiringuito" beach bars serve delicious Mediterranean dishes along the seaside promenade. The El Palo beach is popular among kayakers and paddleboarders, while the said promenade is known for biking and sunset walks. The warm waters of the sea is perfect for everyone especially during the summer season. There are fishermen's boats that still work in the area and are visible until today. Jábegas, a traditional Málaga boats have been converted into pleasure or competition boats. They are typical rowing ships recognizable by the two eyes that decorate their keels.
