Portland Mayor Keith Wilson said Friday night that there has been an increase in federal agents at the ICE facility in South Portland, raising the question whether President Donald Trump was following up on his recent threats to quell protests in the city with federal force. “I want to be clear about the situation we face. We now have a sudden influx of federal agents in our city,” Wilson said at a hastily called news conference at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Northeast Portland. “We did not ask for them to come. They are here without precedent or purpose.” Wilson was surrounded by city, county and federal officials, as well as faith leaders, at the news conference.
