Filmed December 25, 2021. Merry Christmas everyone! I decided to come out and catch this train since there wasn't really anything to do out today. Metrolink 664 rolls passed the Main Street railroad crossing in Orange, California. This train's leader was a MP36PH locomotive which was a nice touch as there not as common anymore. Crossing info: Crossing is owned and maintained by Metrolink (SCAX). This crossing is a quiet zone. Bells ring through whole activation. Crossing is on the Metrolink (SCAX) Orange Subdivision. Signal on the right: 2 pairs of 12x24" Safetran lights with Dialight Ball LEDs, Safetran (Siemens) gate mechanism, Aurora Alstom LED gatelights, Safetran base, and a WCH type 3 electronic bell. Pedestrain gate on the right: Safetran gate mechanism, Aurora Alstom LED gatelights, and a Safetran base. Gateless signal on the median: 1 pair of 12x24" WCH lights with WCH 1st Generation LEDs, and a Safetran base. Pedestrain signal on the left: 1 pair of 12x24" Safetran lights with Dialight Ball LEDs, Safetran gate mechanism, Aurora Alstom LED gatelights, Safetran base, and a General Signals type 2 electronic bell. Signal on the left: 2 pairs of 12x24" Safetran lights with Dialight Ball LEDs, Safetran (Siemens) gate mechanism, Aurora Alstom LED gatelights, Safetran base, and a WCH type 4 electronic bell. Pedestrain gate on the left: Safetran gate mechanism, Aurora Alstom LED gatelights, and a Safetran base. Gateless signal on the median: 1 pair of 12x24" Safetran lights with Dialight Ball LEDs, and a Safetran base. Signal on the far right: 1 pair of 12x24" Safetran lights with Dialight Ball LEDs, Safetran gate mechanism, Aurora Alstom LED gatelights, Safetran base, and a General Signals type 2 electronic bell. Pedestrain gate on the far right: Safetran gate mechanism, Aurora Alstom LED gatelights, and a Safetran base. Locomotives: SCAX 902 - MP36PH-3C. SCAX 662 - Hyundai Rotem cabcar. This is a typical crossing on Metrolink that was heavily modernized in the last few years. The shoulder signals were installed in the 90s replacing old ATSF signals. The two shoulder signals originally had 12x20" Safetran incandescent lights, WCH gate mechs, 7" incandescent gatelights, and Safetran mechanical bells. The two gateless signals weren't installed till the early 2000s, when Metrolink decided to change the 7" gate lights to NEG/WCH 4" incandescent gatelights. Around the mid 2000s, the Safetran incandescent lights were retrofitted with the current Dialight Ball LEDs, and the far shoulder signal had its Safetran mechanical bell replaced with a WCH mechanical bell. In late 2010 to mid 2011, the pedestrain and exit signals were installed, plus the gatelights were once again changed. Around that same time, the far gateless signal had a pair of lights removed while the other pair of WCH lights were replaced with Safetran lights with Dialight Ball LEDs. Sometime between 2015 and 2016, the gate barriers were restripe and it appears the same gatelights were kept. In early 2018, the 12x20" light background were upgraded to 12x24" and the Safetran and WCH mechanical bells were replaced with the current WCH electronic bells. Camera: Sony HDR-CX405 Handycam.
