During our March 2025 US tour, we found ourselves in Archive Recordings, Salt Lake City UT. This song was composed by Murchadh Mac'ill Eathain (Murdo MacLean) who, along with a number of other young men, traveled from Coigach, Wester Ross to Montana in the early 1900s to work as shepherds, cattlemen and cowboys. Murdo eventually returned to Scotland and married, whereas many of his fellow Gaelic speaking Highlanders stayed and settled in North American. This song is unique as it is possibly the only preserved Gaelic song we have from the American West. A proper Gaelic Cowboy Song. Check out the amazing Coigach & Assynt Collection compiled by Ronan Martin for more information on this song and many more. credits released September 5, 2025 Alasdair White: Fiddle Angus MacKenzie: Whistle Ellen MacDonald: Gaelic Song Murdo Cameron: Mandola Ross Martin: Guitar Recorded, Mixed and Mastered by Wes Johnson, Archive Recordings, Salt Lake City UT Studio Filming by Dàimh and Wes Johnson Union Pacific Railroad Filming by Keith Morrison Film Edited by Keith Morrison, Wee Studio Single tracks is a series of one-off studio tracks and music videos
