Marzuki - Kissing The Ceiling

Marzuki was an indie folk rock band from Holland, MI in the mid to late 1990s. Marzuki's members included Shannon Stephens on vocals and guitar, Jamie Kempkers on cello, Matthew Haseltine (brother of Jars of Clay's Dan Haseltine) on guitar and bass, and the then unknown Sufjan Stevens on guitar, percussion, and the more exotic instruments (especially the recorder). Marzuki was named after Sufjan Stevens' brother, Marzuki Stevens, a professional long-distance and marathon runner. The one album and one ep I know of (and have) are out of print, with little to no information about them online. They are nearly impossible to find in physical form, though some people have kept them alive through file sharing. I had hoped Asthmatic Kitty would reissue them as they did with Shannon Stephens self-titled album. No such luck as of yet. Which is a shame, because they are magnificent. This track is from their first ep, which I believe was released in '96. The video content is from a beautiful Russian movie called Moya Lyubov ("My Love"). It is a 2006 paint-on-glass-animated short film, and I highly recommend it if you can find it (a quick search shows someone has uploaded it to youtube), because it is one of the most visually magnificent things you will see.
