I used to see High Wire (formerly Avalanche) at The Golden West Ballroom in Downey circa 1976, including when they opened the semi-legendary bill with the great UFO getting blown off the stage by Van Halen (I'm quoted in the book Van Halen rising about the show.) In the pic above is the payouts for the night, VH & High Wire getting $200(!) apiece and UFO getting $3000. This recording was me sneaking in a cheap cassette recorder into Myron's Ballroom in Los Angeles when they opened for Van Halen and Eulogy. Per Mike their lead guitarist, this song came from the Three Dog Night camp. Great song, and Mike was like a West Coast Jimmy Page - great tone from his Marshall & Les Paul, great moves, looked super cool, and his extended solos were crazy melodic and flashy. This was my favorite tune of theirs, and knowing that my batteries were about dead I chose to record this over VH (and Eulogy who went to my HS) which shows how much I loved this tune. Unlike 99% of 70's LA bands, I've never found a thing on them on the Internet. If you know any of the members please let them know this exists! Hope they're all well and happy.
