Finger (also known as Godfrey Finger) was a German musician and composer in Moravia during the mid-Baroque era. He was born in Olmütz, trained there and in Kremsier, and took a position at the court in Munich. Starting in 1685, he spent 15 years in London, followed by appointments in Breslau, Berlin, Innsbruck, and later in Mannheim. Most of his preserved compositions are sonatas for chamber groups, but ouvertures for orchestra and even operas also exist. This Moderato is the first movement of a sonata for natural trumpet, oboe & continuo that has been arranged by Michel Rondeau. It is presented here with the continuo portion prerecorded and played via MIDI sequencer, an interesting option of digital instruments. Instrument: Johannus Monarke "Breughel".
