Today we speak to Joe Wookey from Rushall Organics ( https://www.rushallorganics.co.uk/ ) Joe runs his family farm in Wiltshire, one of the oldest organic farms in the UK. Following a decision made by his grandfather who noticed that the introduction of artificial fertilizers in the 1960's coincided with a significant decrease in the population of the grey partridge that were once abundant, the farm turned organic in 1970. As a result of this, the farm is now thriving with bird life (including all 5 of the UK rare farmland birds), rare plants and supports a diverse network of insect and animal life. We discuss whether organic farming really could feed the world, how a decision to diversify income sources led to developing a completely 'off grid' events space and changing the messaging around buying organic.
