During the holiday season, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by expectations, loneliness, or the "inconveniences" of life. But when we look at the birth of Jesus, we see a Savior who truly understands what it means to have it rough. Join Pastor Jon Nettesheim, of Elizabeth City Baptist Church as we study Luke 2 and find three life-changing lessons from the Nativity. From the Roman oppression facing Mary and Joseph to the lack of room at the inn, we see that the King of Kings was born into hardship so that He could empathize with our own. In this sermon, we explore: Lesson 1: Jesus Understands Hardship. He knows what it’s like to be alone, ignored, and under pressure. He is the perfect helper because He can empathize with your pain. Lesson 2: Good News for the Common Man. God didn't send the angels to the elite, but to shepherds and laborers. The Gospel is for everyone. Lesson 3: Joy is Available to the World. True joy isn't found in materialistic hobbies or possessions; it’s found in the fact that Christ has been born. Our "tanks" only stay full when they are filled by Him. The Challenge: The shepherds had no Bibles or degrees—they simply shared the news of what they had seen. How is your witness? Are you sharing the great joy of Jesus Christ with a lost and dying world? 00:00 - Service 22:00 - Sermon
