Stepping into magic and into the Animation Academy at Disney California Adventure, a place that allows artists of all ages to practice their pencil skills. Today the class featured a classic character: Oswald the Lucky Rabbit! Did you know that Oswald was one of Walt Disney’s original creations way back in 1972? He, along with one of the amazing animators and cartoonist known as Ub Iwerks, worked to create this friendly rabbit even before Mickey Mouse was born! As we watch and learn to lightly kiss the paper with our pencil, we start to see the outline start to take shape. This isn’t just any art class, the Animation Academy features amazing Disney artists that prove to be excellent story tellers and are full of talent. As you’ll see, the instructor has an amazing ability to teach while narrating an interesting story about the character, dropping tidbits of facts along the way.
