Clone vs Authentic: The Aeronaut RDA

The Aeronaut is my favorite RDA of all time. I’ve said this before. It’s not the first time you’re hearing this. I knew it was only a matter of time before a clone came out. But when I found out that the clone was in actuality based on an earlier iteration of the Aeronaut, and was based on a design by the original creator, I had to pick one up. Strictly for academic reasons. I wanted to see what his original design was like. The differences between the two are rather significant. A completely different deck design. A removable drip tip. Smaller juice well, smaller air flow. And most importantly, the company that cloned the Aeronaut completely forgot to make the airflow tubes removable and interchangeable. A feature that really helps to make the Aeronaut what it is. In no way am I advocating buying the clone version of the Aeronaut. I will certainly buy clones from time to time, don’t get me wrong. But a $65 authentic RDA of this caliber is worth every penny. In an industry where authentic RDAs can go for upwards of $100, $120, $150, this is an authentic RDA made by an independent designer with an excellent sense of customer focus and innovative vision, priced more than reasonably. But this is a rare opportunity to see the revision of an earlier version of an innovative RDA and the final version that ultimately made it to market.
