In our next step to develop the Gryphon launch system, Fusion Space will finally launch the long awaited high-altitude flight of a full scale Gryphon upperstage. Today's mission goal is to demonstrate a controlled horizontal descent using 2 movable control surfaces at the base of the vehicle. This'll allow Gryphon to bleed off 99% of its speed during re-entry during orbital missions. Our second goal for the flight today will be to attempt a flip maneuver with one of the two Aeolus 2 engines and then perform a soft splashdown with both Aeolus 2 engines. While future vehicles will be equipped with 6 of these engines. We will only utilize 2 for landings. As with any test mission, things could go wrong, and we will use the data gathered from this flight to improve the Gryphon launch system as it is developed.
