A sermon delivered by C.H. Spurgeon, Lord's day morning, August 25th 1872. Spurgeon was always at home when thinking outside the box, and exploding myths. This sermon is no exception. They say that the Victorians were bold in talking of death, and make modern people look squeamish. Spurgeon boldly looks the ‘king of terrors’ in the face, and shows us that, in Christ, we have nothing to fear. He teaches that faith in our bodily resurrection is indeed a test of faith- but that with God we live in the realm of the supernatural, and trust in His omnipotence. [By the way, Spurgeon referred, in his own language, to what we now refer to as DNA! He speaks of “some essential nucleus” (27:16ff), which had been discovered just three years earlier].
